4 Qul: Your Path to Protection and Prosperity

The whole Quran has a significant role in every Muslim life. The Quran offers significant benefits to every Muslim, serving as a means of communication between the Creator and His creation. The Holy Quran describes Allah’s power in managing the entire world and creating everything in it, emphasizing His greatness.

The 4 Qul in the Quran teaches us that there is only one God, and Muslims who believe in Allah follow the right path. The Four Qul carries many spiritual and physical benefits, such as guiding us to worship the real God, strengthening our faith in the oneness of Allah, protecting us from evil activities, and even shielding us from black magic.

“The Prophet (ﷺ) said to his companions, ‘Is it difficult for any of you to recite one-third of the Quran in one night?’ This suggestion was difficult for them, so they said, ‘Who among us has the power to do so, O Allah Messenger (ﷺ)?’ The Messenger of Allah replied: ‘Allah (the) One, the Self-Sufficient Master Whom all creatures need.’ (Surat Al-Ikhlas 112.1–to the End) is equal to one-third of the Quran.”

Surah Al-Kafirun سورہ الکافرون

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
اللہ کے نام سے شروع جو نہایت مہربان ہمیشہ رحم فرمانے والا ہے
In the Name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Ever-Merciful 
____________

 قُلْ یٰۤاَیُّهَا الْكٰفِرُوْنَۙ۝

Say: ‘O disbelievers!
آپ فرما دیجئے: اے کافرو!
____________

 لَاۤ اَعْبُدُ مَا تَعْبُدُوْنَۙ۝

I do not worship that which you worship.
میں ان کی عبادت نہیں کرتا جنہیں تم پوجتے ہو
____________

 وَ لَاۤ اَنْتُمْ عٰبِدُوْنَ مَاۤ اَعْبُدُۚ۝

Nor do you worship Whom I worship.
اور نہ تم اس کی عبادت کرنے والے ہو جس کی میں عبادت کرتا ہوں
____________

 وَ لَاۤ اَنَا عَابِدٌ مَّا عَبَدْتُّمْۙ۝

And I shall never worship that which you worship.
اور نہ (ہی) میں (آئندہ کبھی) ان کی عبادت کرنے والا ہوں جن کی تم پرستش کرتے ہو

 وَ لَاۤ اَنْتُمْ عٰبِدُوْنَ مَاۤ اَعْبُدُؕ۝

Nor will you worship Whom I worship.
اور نہ تم اس کی عبادت کرنے والے ہو جس کی میں عبادت کرتا ہوں

 لَكُمْ دِیْنُكُمْ وَ لِیَ دِیْنِ۠۝

(So) you have your din (religion), and I have my Din (Religion).’
 تمہارا دین تمہارے لئے اور میرا دین میرے لئے ہے

(al-Kafirun, 109

al-Ikhlas سورہ الاخلاص

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
اللہ کے نام سے شروع جو نہایت مہربان ہمیشہ رحم فرمانے والا ہے
In the Name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Ever-Merciful

 قُلْ هُوَ اللّٰهُ اَحَدٌۚ۝

(O Esteemed Messenger!) Proclaim: ‘He is Allah, Who is the One.
(اے نبئ مکرّم!) آپ فرما دیجئے: وہ اللہ ہے جو یکتا ہے
____________

 اَللّٰهُ الصَّمَدُۚ۝

Allah is the Transcendent of all, the Protector and Far-Superior to all.
اللہ سب سے بے نیاز، سب کی پناہ اور سب پر فائق ہے
____________

 لَمْ یَلِدْ ۙ۬ وَ لَمْ یُوْلَدْۙ۝

He has not begotten any, nor is He begotten.
 نہ اس سے کوئی پیدا ہوا ہے اور نہ ہی وہ پیدا کیا گیا ہے
____________

 وَ لَمْ یَكُنْ لَّهٗ كُفُوًا اَحَدٌ۠۝

Nor is there anyone equal to Him.
اور نہ ہی اس کا کوئی ہمسر ہے

al-Ikhlas 112

al-Falaq سورہ الفلق

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
اللہ کے نام سے شروع جو نہایت مہربان ہمیشہ رحم فرمانے والا ہے
In the Name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Ever-Merciful

 قُلْ اَعُوْذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِۙ۝

Beseech: ‘I seek refuge with the Lord of daybreak (or Who brought the universe into existence with an explosion extremely fast),
آپ عرض کیجئے کہ میں (ایک) دھماکے سے انتہائی تیزی کے ساتھ (کائنات کو) وجود میں لانے والے رب کی پناہ مانگتا ہوں
____________

 مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَۙ۝

From the evil influence (and harmfulness) of everything that He has created,
ہر اس چیز کے شر (اور نقصان) سے جو اس نے پیدا فرمائی ہے
____________

 وَ مِنْ شَرِّ غَاسِقٍ اِذَا وَقَبَۙ۝

And (in particular) from the evil of the murky night when (its) darkness prevails,
اور (بالخصوص) اندھیری رات کے شر سے جب (اس کی) ظلمت چھا جائے
____________

 وَ مِنْ شَرِّ النَّفّٰثٰتِ فِی الْعُقَدِۙ۝

And from the evil of those women (and men) who practise magic on knots by blowing,
اور گرہوں میں پھونک مارنے والی جادوگرنیوں (اور جادوگروں) کے شر سے
____________

 وَ مِنْ شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ اِذَا حَسَدَ۠۝

And from the mischief of every envious person when he envies.’
اور ہر حسد کرنے والے کے شر سے جب وہ حسد کرے
____________

al-Falaq 113

al-Nās سورہ الناس

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
اللہ کے نام سے شروع جو نہایت مہربان ہمیشہ رحم فرمانے والا ہے
In the Name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Ever-Merciful

 قُلْ اَعُوْذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِۙ۝

Beseech: ‘I seek refuge with the Lord of (the whole of) mankind,
آپ عرض کیجئے کہ میں (سب) انسانوں کے رب کی پناہ مانگتا ہوں
____________

 مَلِكِ النَّاسِۙ۝

Who is the King of (all) mankind,
جو (سب) لوگوں کا بادشاہ ہے
____________

 اِلٰهِ النَّاسِۙ۝

Who is the God of the (whole) human race,
جو (ساری) نسلِ انسانی کا معبود ہے
____________

 مِنْ شَرِّ الْوَسْوَاسِ ۙ۬ الْخَنَّاسِ۪ۙ۝

From the evil of the slinking whisperer (Satan) who hides himself withdrawing (from the influence of Allah’s remembrance),
وسوسہ انداز (شیطان) کے شر سے جو (اللہ کے ذکر کے اثر سے) پیچھے ہٹ کر چھپ جانے والا ہے
____________

 الَّذِیْ یُوَسْوِسُ فِیْ صُدُوْرِ النَّاسِۙ۝


Who whispers into the hearts of mankind,

جو لوگوں کے دلوں میں وسوسہ ڈالتا ہے
____________

 مِنَ الْجِنَّةِ وَ النَّاسِ۠۝  

Whether he (the whispering Satan) comes from the jinn or mankind.’
خواہ وہ (وسوسہ انداز شیطان) جنات میں سے ہو یا انسانوں میں سے

Benefits of 4 Qul

Protection from Shirk

One of the primary benefits of reciting the 4 Qul is protection from Shirk. By reciting these Surahs daily, our belief in the oneness of Allah reinforced, making it clear that there is only one Allah worthy of worship, and all others who worshipped besides Allah are wrong and will face punishment.

“It is narrated in Sahih Muslim that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: ‘Recite Surah Al-Ikhlas and then go to sleep after coming to its end, for it is a clearance from shirk.'”

Night Protection:

Reciting the Four Qul has remarkable benefits in protecting us at night. When recited before sleeping, Allah shields us from harmful influences in the darkness, protecting from physical, spiritual, evil whispers, nightmares, and negative thoughts throughout the night. The power of the 4 Qul brings peace to our minds throughout the night.

Blessings for Muslims

Reciting the 4 Qul brings numerous blessings, offering physical and spiritual protection from evil and haram activities, guiding us in the right direction, and blessing us in various aspects of life. Surah Al-Kafirun strengthens our belief in the oneness of Allah and enlightens us that there is only one God to be worship. Those who worship others besides Allah are misguided. Surah Al-Ikhlas proclaims that Allah is the only one God managing all activities in the world. If recited three times, equal to 1/3 of the entire Quran. Surah Al-Falaq protects us from evil activities, and Surah An-Nas seeks refuge from the whispers of Satan.

“Abdullah ibn Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, ‘The chapter, ‘Say: He is Allah the One,’ (Ikhlas) is equal to one-third of the Quran. The chapter, ‘Say: O unbelievers,’ (Kafirun) is equal to one-fourth of the Quran.’ Ibn Umar said, ‘The Prophet would recite either of them in his two cycles before dawn prayer.'”

Protection from Black Magic

Reciting the 4 Qul also protects us from black magic. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) advised that Surah An-Nas and Surah Al-Falaq protect evil activities, including black magic.

Narrated by Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), the Prophet said, “Recite Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas in the morning and evening three times, and it will protect you against everything.”

Love for Allah Grows in the Heart

Reciting the 4 Qul increases our love for Allah. Repeatedly reciting these Surahs emphasizes Allah’s unique characteristics and His exclusive right to be worship in this world. Muslims believe in only one Allah, and those who worship others are misguided.

Good Health

The 4 Qul is effective in healing fatal illnesses and diseases. Reciting them can improve physical health and aid in recovery from various diseases:

• All kinds of fevers and sicknesses
• Life-threatening diseases
• Mental illnesses such as depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder
• Anything that negatively impacts a person’s health

Narrated by Aisha (RA): “Whenever Allah Messenger (ﷺ) became sick, he would recite Muawwidhat (Surat Al-Falaq and Surat An-Nas) and then blow his breath over his body. When he became seriously ill, I used to recite (these two Suras) and rub his hands over his body, hoping for its blessings.”
